PROJECT SUMMARY

Radiant Energy is developing two 40MW photovoltaic (PV) solar plants near Eldoret in the Uasin Gishu County, Kenya. The solar PV plants will be in close proximity to each other on the same site. Each solar PV plant will have a 33kV collector substation and be connected to a 220kV substation with its own step-up transformer. The 220kV substation will be built by Radiant Energy on behalf of KPLC (Kenya Power and Lighting Company). After construction, the 220kV substation will be handed over to KPLC, who will own and operate it.

The substation works also include the construction of a 1km, 220kV double circuit tie-in overhead line. The overhead line ties the 220kV substation into the Lessos to Turkwel 220kV overhead line.

ADM Engineers (ADM) provided strategic consulting services to POWER Engineers in the form of lead electrical engineering services to support its Owner’s Engineer role on this project.
