Power Plants

ADM provides EPCM, EPC and strategic consulting services for power plant projects within the following domains: Renewable Energy, Embedded Generation, Utility Scale Reciprocating Engines.

Renewable Energy
The renewable energy domain power plants are:

  • Utility-scale wind farms;

  • Utility-scale PV solar farms;

  • Small hydro power plants;

  • Hybrid power plants.

Embedded Generation

Embedded generation refers to power plants that connect to a national grid via an industrial facility’s electrical distribution system. Captive power is a special application of embedded generation where the power plant is not connected to the national grid. The embedded generation domain power plants are:

  • Waste heat to power;

  • Combined heat and power (CHP);

  • Tri-generation;

  • Diesel reciprocating engines;

  • Gas reciprocating engines;

  • Special gas (syngas) power generation.

Utility Scale Reciprocating Engines

Due to their modular nature and relative small auxiliary infrastructure, reciprocating engines provide good, medium-sized, utility scale, thermal power plants. ADM provides services related to the following reciprocating type power plants:

  • Gas;

  • HFO (Heavy Fuel Oil) and diesel.

Energy Storage

ADM provides EPCM, EPC and strategic consulting services for energy storage projects, either as standalone utility-connected solutions, or as part of hybrid and renewable power plants. ADM selects the energy storage technology based on its application and provides the required engineering expertise to integrate the storage with power plants or the national grid.

Micro Grids

ADM provides EPCM, EPC and strategic consulting services for micro grids that operate with utility or without utility connections. As such, micro grids can operate either connected to the grid or not connected the grid, i.e., in island mode. All aspects, such as power generation and load management, are executed locally and independent of the centralised grid.

Micro grids pose a unique challenge in that they combine various power sources, storage elements and demand-side management. Micro grids provide a solution where the grid connection is expensive due to the load canter’s remoteness or where off-grid power generation is required.
